Overview
Importing coupons in bulk is a powerful way to manage your promotional campaigns efficiently. Instead of having the system generate codes for you, you can prepare your own list of unique codes in a CSV file and upload it directly to the Cleeng platform. This article guides you through the entire process.
Note: “Import coupons” option is only available for “Bulk Codes” coupon campaigns.
Step 1: Understand import limits
Before preparing your CSV file, please review the maximum coupon limits associated with your current Cleeng plan. Knowing these thresholds ensures a smooth and error-free upload process:
| Cleeng Plan | Maximum Coupons per Import File |
| Pro | 10,000 |
| Enterprise | 100,000 |
For a breakdown of features across Pro/Enterprise tiers, please refer to this plan comparison.
Step 2: Import your coupons
- Navigate to Coupon Campaigns:
In your Cleeng Dashboard, go to Offers & Coupons > Coupon Campaigns. - Start a new campaign:
Click the Create Campaign button. - Set the Number of Coupons to 0:
When setting up your campaign, ensure that the Number of Coupons field is set to 0. This indicates that you will be importing your own list of codes instead of generating them through the platform. - Open actions menu:
After you have created a campaign, go to the list of coupon campaigns and click the three-dots icon on the right to open the actions menu. - Choose the Import Coupons option.
- Import your CSV File:
Select the validated .csv file from your computer and upload it.
Step 3: Verify the import
After the upload begins, you can monitor its progress.
- Check Import Status: Navigate to the Imported Coupons tab within your campaign. This screen will show the status of the import and the number of coupons processed.
- Download a Report: For detailed results, you can download a report that lists the status of each coupon code. This is especially useful for identifying issues.
- Test a Code: It is always a best practice to test one or two imported codes in your checkout to ensure they apply the correct discount as expected.
Troubleshooting common issues
If your import fails, check the downloaded report for specific errors. The most common problems are:
- Duplicate Codes: This error occurs if a code in your file has already been used in another campaign or is repeated within the same file.
- Invalid File Format: This can happen if the file was not saved as a .csv or if it contains extra columns, special characters, or a header row.
