The automation scheduler allows you to define a segment, and then create an automated schedule for sending this segment to Zapier. From there you can send it to hundreds of different applications, including your marketing platform.
Opening the scheduler
To open the scheduler, click the gear icon next to the 'Run' button in the segment builder. Then select 'Schedule'.
Start a new schedule (automation)
Click 'New' to start a new automation. Give it a name that is consistent either with a campaign you intend to connect the segment to, or a name that describes the segment itself.
Select where the data goes
Now choose the destination for the data. The easiest tool to use for segment marketing is Zapier, as it connects to hundreds of marketing tools. But depending on your architecture you may wish to use others. Click the destination you want to use, and proceed.
If you use Zapier, you will need to enter a Zapier webhook url. This is generated automatically when you set up your Zapier workflow.
Define the delivery schedule
Next, define how often and when you want the segment to be sent. Select the trigger as 'Repeating interval'. Then define the delivery schedule, eg. daily at 6am.
Finalize segment filters
If you defined your filters in the main window, they will be carried over to the scheduler window. In either case, you can configure the filters here as you wish. Hover on a label to see the full attribute name
Advanced settings
Advanced settings allow you to specify:
- If every customer in a segment should be sent (by default this will be limited)
- What timezone the delivery schedule should align with
In most cases, you will want to send all results, but be aware that very large customer lists will consume a corresponding number of tasks in Zapier.
Test and save
The last steps of a scheduled action used with Zapier are testing the automation, and then saving it. Once you have clicked 'Send Test', you can test the connection in Zapier. When successful, hit 'Save All' to finish.
