Upcoming Changes
Update to API 3.1 "List Subscriptions" Endpoint
We are happy to share with you the upcoming enhancement to API 3.1 List subscriptions endpoint.
Currently, when using offerId and customerId as query parameters to fetch active subscriptions for a given customer, you receive only one active subscription per offer.
The current restriction of one active subscription per offer is soon going to be lifted. Once the change is live, customers will be able to have multiple active subscriptions to one offer, allowing the endpoint to return more than one result.
We are lifting this restriction in preparation for our upcoming enhanced external subscriptions handling. If there are multiple subscriptions returned, they will have different payment method IDs as we will only allow for multiple subscriptions if they are coming from different sources. Stay tuned for more details about our Multi-channel Billing feature!
What do I need to do?
If your current implementation relies on the assumption that the List subscriptions (GET /3.1/subscriptions) endpoint returns a maximum of one active subscription per offer, this upcoming change may result in some unexpected behaviors.
We kindly request you to embrace this planned enhancement in the endpoint behavior and make any necessary adjustments to your integration in advance. The release is estimated for the end of August, it will be communicated in the release notes. Let's make the most of this positive change together!
Improvements
Taxes Collection for Japan and Thailand Customers
In our continuous efforts to improve our service, we are rolling out an update for tax management in Japan and Thailand. With this update, customers in these two countries will have applicable taxes added to their purchases - 10% consumption tax in Japan and 7% VAT in Thailand.
If you use Cleeng’s Merchant (Cleeng acts as your Merchant of Record) and sell your digital content to customers in Japan and Thailand, the following information is relevant to your content offers:
- Historically, prices of offer localizations for Japan and Thailand were exclusive of consumption tax (Japan) and VAT (Thailand).
- Starting July 15, 2024, prices for Japan and Thailand will now be treated as inclusive of consumption tax (Japan) and VAT (Thailand) in the Cleeng platform.
- You may need to update your prices on any offers that target the Japanese and Thai markets that were created before July 15, 2024.
What do I need to do?
Do you have offers localized for Japan and Thailand that are currently active? You can recognize them by ending on their offer ID - ‘JP’ for Japan, and ‘TH’ for Thailand.
These prices will now be treated as gross prices for taxation purposes.
A consumption tax rate of 10% will now apply to any purchases of your offers made in Japan and a VAT rate of 7% - to purchases of your offers made in Thailand and will be remitted on your behalf to the tax authorities. If you wish to update your prices, you can do so in the Cleeng Broadcaster dashboard.
