Cleeng has developed web and email templates that display the right currency to users depending on their preferences. Cleeng converts the price to customers' preferred currency by using an auto-detect feature.
How to change the currency of an offer
The offer prices are in your default currency and:
- For One-Time Purchase and Live Event offers, you can change the currency of a particular offer.
- It's not possible to change the currency of the Subscription and Pass offer types.
However, the end-user will still see the price converted to their preferred currency using the auto-detect feature (or a corresponding currency when their local currency is not yet supported).
To change the currency per offer, go to the offer settings when creating a new One-Time Purchase or Live Event offer.
How does it work?
For example, if you're in the US, your default currency is USD, and want to sell content in both the US and EU, EU customers will see the price in EUR based on the USD>EUR exchange rate. Instead, it may be better to create two separate offers for each market using geo-restrictions. Then you will be able to change the currency of your EU offer to EUR, so customers in the EU will always see the price you set up, without the automatic conversion.
When you're using Cleeng's Merchant solution, it also automatically applies local taxes.
Supported currencies – your payouts
When setting up an account with Cleeng, you are required to choose your default payout currency. In this currency, you receive the payouts from Cleeng. You can’t change the currency once any transactions have been made in this currency. End users’ currencies will be converted to your default currency, and your payout invoice will be in your default currency.
Available payout currencies include:
- USD - US Dollar
- EUR - Euro
- GBP - Pound Sterling
How to change your payout currency
You can change your default currency only before the first transaction is made. See how to change your default currency.
When setting your default currency, we recommend choosing the currency where you are locally based or have the biggest viewership. Read more about how taxes work for sales in different regions. If you wish to develop your own customized offer setup, you can do it using our API.
