Overview
GCash is the leading digital wallet in the Philippines, operated by G-Xchange, Inc., a subsidiary of Mynt (a joint venture between Globe Fintech Innovations/Ayala Corporation and Ant Group). It lets Filipino consumers pay for online purchases, in-store transactions, bills, and peer-to-peer transfers directly from their mobile wallet, without needing a bank account or credit card.
GCash supports both one-time and recurring payments. For recurring use cases, the payer authorizes the merchant once through a redirect flow; subsequent charges are then initiated by the merchant using a stored token, without further action from the payer.
For Cleeng clients, this feature is powered by our partnership with Adyen, enabling automated payment collections in Philippine Pesos (PHP) from GCash users.
This feature is exclusively available to clients using the Cleeng Merchant product.
Key Features & Benefits
- Higher Conversion: GCash gives access to the large share of Filipino consumers who are unbanked or don't hold a credit card, letting them subscribe online using their mobile wallet instead.
- Automated Recurring Billing: After a single authorization, GCash supports merchant-initiated recurring charges, so subsequent billing cycles are collected automatically.
- Reduced Payment Friction: Because charges are debited from the wallet directly, GCash avoids common card failure points such as expired cards or blocked international transactions.
- Localized Growth: GCash is the most widely used digital wallet in the Philippines, with tens of millions of active users. This allows online subscription businesses to grow locally in one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing e-commerce markets.
How to enable GCash?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is GCash?
GCash is a mobile wallet app in the Philippines, operated by G-Xchange, Inc., a subsidiary of Mynt, that lets users make online payments, in-store payments, mobile top-ups, bill payments, and peer-to-peer transfers directly from their phone.
Who operates GCash?
GCash is operated by G-Xchange, Inc., a subsidiary of Mynt, a joint venture between Globe Fintech Innovations (an affiliate of Ayala Corporation and Globe Telecom) and Ant Group.
How does Cleeng support GCash?
Cleeng provides its Merchant clients with the ability to collect payments from their Filipino end users through GCash. We use Adyen to process both one-time and recurring payments from GCash users.
Which currency does Cleeng support with GCash?
Cleeng collects payments in Philippine Pesos (PHP) using GCash. GCash transactions are only available in this currency.
Is it safe to use GCash?
GCash payments are authorized by the end user through a secure redirect to the GCash app, where the payment is confirmed with an OTP sent to their registered mobile number. Cleeng processes these payments through its partner Adyen, which manages the technical integration and compliance with GCash's requirements. End users can revoke their recurring authorization at any time, following the same process Cleeng provides for other payment methods.
How does a Cleeng publisher get paid for GCash transactions?
Only publishers using Cleeng Merchant can receive payouts for GCash transactions. The amount collected from GCash is included in your payout invoice in the settlement currency you selected.
Where can I see reporting of GCash transactions?
Publishers using Merchant can select "GCash" in the "Payment Method" filter within the Merchant section of the Cleeng dashboard.
Does GCash follow similar settings as other payment methods (e.g. dunning settings, coupon settings, etc.)?
Yes. All settings that you have on Cleeng's platform (retries, coupons, etc.) are applied for GCash. Reach out to your Account Manager if you need help changing or viewing your settings.
What happens if the end-user's GCash wallet has insufficient funds?
If the end-user's wallet lacks sufficient balance at the time of a recurring charge, the payment will fail. Handling of failed payments (retries, dunning, service suspension) is managed by Cleeng, just like any other payment method we support.
How long does the initial authorization redirect stay valid?
When an end-user is redirected to GCash to authorize a payment, the redirect page is valid for a limited time (30 minutes by default). If the authorization isn't completed within that window, the page will time out and the end-user will need to restart the checkout.
